The First Steps to Healthy Families is a voluntary program provides support, education and health services to pregnant women and families with children under the age of 5 who want to lead a healthy, sober lifestyle.

What is First Steps to Healthy Families (FSTHF)?
The First Steps to Healthy Families is a voluntary individual strengths based program that connects families with community resources to help reach their goals. Our team is here to help mothers and fathers overcome drug or alcohol addiction – without judgment, criticism or shame. Our overall goal is to help keep families together and encourage healthy pregnancies.What services are offered?
Some of the following services may be offered with this program:
- One on one support planning
- Home visits
- Advocacy and collaboration with services and resources to help meet your daily needs
- Help starting prenatal care
- Help with connecting with sober supports and alcohol and drug services
Am I eligible for FSTHF?
This program is offered to anyone who meets the following requirements:
- Anyone who is a resident of Beltrami County
- You are currently pregnant or have a child under the age of 5
- You have a current or previous history of alcohol or substance use
What can I expect from FSTHF?
- Weekly meetings with case manager to set individual goals
- Non judgmental approach to working together
- Working together to help solve your concerns
- Help families navigate sobriety
- Education about substance use and community resources
