Steps to apply for a marriage license:

1. Complete the marriage license application.

2. Visit the Beltrami County License Center within 90 days of completing the online application. Complete the supplemental application if one party cannot appear.

When applying for a marriage license:

• A $115.00 fee or a reduced fee of $40.00 with 12 hours of premarital education and a signed statement of premarital education.
• You may pay by check, cash, or credit/debit card.
• Licenses are issued the same day and are valid for six months.
• A duplicate marriage license can be issued for $25.00 if lost or destroyed.

Information required for a marriage license:

• Legal, full names of both applicants
• Current addresses
• Dates of birth
• Social security numbers
• Information on previous marriages 

Steps to apply for a marriage certificate:

1. Have the person performing the marriage ceremony comeplete the marriage certificate.
2. Forward the signed marriage certificate to Beltrami County within five days of the ceremony.
3. One free marriage certificate is mailed to the newly married couple.

Information required for a marriage certificate:

• Full names of the applicants
• Date of marriage
• Return address
• A daytime phone number or email address

When applying for an additional marriage certificate:

• An additional copy of a marriage certificate can be issued for $9.00.
• Complete the marriage certificate and enclose a cash or check made payable to Beltrami County Auditor-Treasurer. 

Steps to apply for a marriage ceremony:

1. Make an appointment by calling 218-333-4148 or by emailing beltrami.licensecenter@co.beltrami.mn.us. Ceremonies are performed Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 11:00am or 1:30pm - 4:00pm.
2. Bring a $50.00 fee to your ceremony. Payments can be made by check, cash, or credit/debit card.
3. Attend your ceremony.
4. You're married!

Information required for a marriage ceremony:

• Bring a Minnesota marriage license. 
• Both parties must bring their valid, government issued photo ID to the ceremony.
• You must bring two witnesses, age 16 or older, that have a valid ID.

When attending a marriage ceremony at Beltrami County:

• Arrive at least 15 minutes before the ceremony.
• Only six guests total, including witnesses will be allowed. 
• All parties may not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The License Center Staff reserves the right to cancel the ceremony if parties appear to be under the influence.
• A marriage certificate will be provided after the ceremony.
