Facing financial uncertainty is overwhelming. We’re here to help. Your first step, whether you need food, resources for your children, or simply to speak with our Social Services team is to call us at 952-888-9616. Volunteers will gather information and explain VEAP’s programs. Our call intake center is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

There are no income guidelines for our food pantry, and we will never ask why you’re visiting us. Everyone is welcome. VEAP does require that all visitors call us to first make an appointment; however, if there is an emergency, we can provide a pre-packaged bag of food. Prior to the appointment, our phone volunteers will ask some brief questions to ensure we have your household information in our private database. Get answers to other frequently asked questions.

Common Questions

Am I eligible? There are no income guidelines for our food pantry, and we will never ask why you’re visiting us. Everyone is welcome.

How often can I access VEAP programs and resources?

For our Food Pantry, visitors are welcome twice a month. During your visit, you will get shelf-stable items (like pasta, cereals, canned goods, etc.) as well as meat, dairy, vegetables, fruit and bread. We also have household items like shampoo, toilet paper, diapers, pet food and more. If you have dietary restrictions, we will try to make every effort to meet your needs. Our inventory is always changing at VEAP, so we cannot promise access to specific items, but we will always try our best to meet your needs.

VEAP’s Mobile Food Pantry is open to everyone! With several convenient sites throughout the Twin Cities, we encourage individuals and families to visit as often as needed. Check our event calendar for current distribution sites and times. Everyone welcome.

What can I expect when visiting VEAP to access food?

VEAP does require that all visitors call us to first make an appointment; however, if there is an emergency, we can provide a pre-packaged bag of food. Prior to the appointment, our phone volunteers will ask some brief questions to make sure your household record is up to date in our database. We do not share this information with anyone.

On drive through pantry days, when you arrive for your appointment, you will pull around to the back of our building and follow the signs for food pick-up. A volunteer will ask you which items you prefer, and will pass off your list to a personal food shopper. Then you will pull ahead to another door where a volunteer will load your items into your car.

On in-pantry shopping days, please park in the parking lot and walk around to the front of the building to Door 1. A volunteer will check you in and then guide you through the pantry to help you find the items you need most, answer your questions, and ensure a pleasant experience for all shoppers. Once you’re done, you’ll pull your car around to the back of our building at Door 4 and we will load all your items into your car.

Is VEAP the same as Hennepin County? No. While Hennepin County’s South Suburban Hub is located at VEAP, we do not share your personal information nor access case information without your written permission. If you have questions, please contact info@veap.org.

Is everyone welcome at VEAP? Yes! We welcome everyone from our community who needs access to use our services. Many of the visitors who use our Food Pantry and Social Services programming are from diverse ethnic, racial and linguistic backgrounds. We make every effort to meet the language needs of our visitors and have staff and volunteers fluent in Spanish, Somali, Russian, Mandarin and other languages. Undocumented individuals are welcome to use all our services. Wherever you are from, you are welcome and belong at VEAP.
