Income Guidelines Apply for ALL Programs

Low Rent Public Housing


The Aitkin County HRA owns 145 public housing units within Aitkin, McGregor and Hill City.

The following is a list of PH units in our area:

Aitkin

Maryhill Manor - 60 unit apt complex

McGregor

Pioneer Villa - 30 unit apt complex

13 Single Family Homes (2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes)

Hill City

Hill Lake Manor - 30 unit apt complex

12 Single Family Homes (2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes)

Section 8 Rental Assistance



The Section 8 Rental Assistance Program is designed to help low-income families pay their rent.  Eligible families select their own rental unit and pay no more than 40% of their family income towards rent.  The Aitkin County HRA pays the remaining balancce.

Rental units must pass specific Housing Quality Standards and are inspected per HUD Guidelines.

Fair Market Rents apply to each unit and limit the amount of rent and utilities that may be charged by the landlord.

The Aitkin County HRA administers Section 8 for both Aitkin and Mille Lacs counties.

Village Apartments



The Aitkin County HRA owns two eight unit buildings with the assistance of USDA Rural Development.

These units are one and two bedroom apartments available to elderly or disabled persons meeting the prescribed income guidelines.

PROPERTIES


The Aitkin HRA owns and manages 3 apartment complexes with 120 one-bedroom apartments and 25 family homes with two, three and four bedrooms.

Tenant rent is based on 30% of adjusted monthly income.  In Federally-Assisted housing, tenants have rights and responsibilities.  Among them are full income and asset disclosure.  All prospective tenants are thoroughly screened.

The Aitkin HRA also owns and manages the Village Apartment complex with 16 apartments.  This is a USDA Rural-Development property available to elderly or disabled persons.

To be considered for housing, please return completed applications to the Aitkin HRA Office, 215 Third Street SE, Aitkin, MN  56431.  Secure outside drop box also available.

The same screening process is in place for ALL properties managed by the Aitkin County HRA.

Family Housing

The Aitkin County HRA Family Housing consists of 25 family housing units.

Rent includes heat, water and sewer.

Hill City

12 family housing units

4 - two bedroom units, 6 - three bedroom units and 2 - four bedroom units.

McGregor

13 family housing units

4 - two bedroom units, 7 - three bedroom units and 2 - four bedroom units.

Village Apartments


The Village Apartments are a USDA Rural Development Property consisting of two eight unit buildings.

These units are one and two bedroom apartments available to elderly or disabled persons meeting the income guidelines.
