American Cancer Society Patient Lodging Programs
https://www.cancer.org/support-programs-and-services/patient-lodging.html
Getting the best care sometimes means cancer patients must travel away from home. This can place an extra emotional and financial burden on patients and caregivers during an already challenging time. The American Cancer Society is trying to make this difficult situation easier for both cancer patients and their families through our lodging programs.
American Cancer Society Hope Lodge communities offer a home away from home for people facing cancer and their caregivers when cancer treatment is far away.
At the 30+ Hope Lodge locations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, ACS provides free lodging to more than 29,000 cancer patients and caregivers each year, saving them more than $55 million in lodging costs.
Extended Stay America Partnership
The American Cancer Society and Extended Stay America are once again partnering to connect eligible patients with cancer to reduced-rate hotel stays in over 700 locations across the country.
For cancer patients, getting the right treatment sometimes requires traveling away from home. Lodging expenses can present a significant financial barrier to receiving lifesaving treatment, and financial barriers are known to contribute to disparities in cancer outcomes. The partnership with Extended Stay America will help fill critical gaps and is aligned with the ACS goal of improving lives for people with cancer.
The American Cancer Society and Extended Stay America began the partnership in 2013. To date, Extended Stay America has donated more than 150,000 hotel room nights throughout the US, saving patients with cancer and their families over $9 million in lodging costs.

Empowered to Quit
https://www.cancer.org/cancer/risk-prevention/tobacco/empowered-to-quit.html
Let’s face it, taking your life back from smoking is hard. But with help, you can be empowered to quit smoking for good.
American Cancer Society researchers developed Empowered to Quit, an email-based program to help you quit smoking. It all starts with making the decision to quit and planning your Quit Day.
Get Help Quitting
How to pick your Quit Day
You can set it as soon as tomorrow or up to 30 days from now. Be sure to give yourself enough time to come up with a quit plan, but not so much time that you’ll change your mind; it is best to pick a weekday that doesn’t look like it will be too stressful of a day. Let’s get started!
What happens after picking your Quit Day?
As your Quit Day gets closer, you can make your quit plan with the help of short emails from the American Cancer Society. Once your Quit Day arrives, you’ll continue to receive tailored emails and tools to support you along your quit journey.
Not sure it's your time to quit smoking?
Here are a few key reasons to quit from the 2020 U.S. Surgeon General’s Report:
- Quitting tobacco is beneficial at any age.
- Quitting tobacco improves health status and enhances the quality of life.
- Quitting tobacco reduces the risk of premature death and can add as much as a decade to life expectancy.
It’s not too late to quit using tobacco. There are many health benefits of quitting nicotine. In fact, the sooner you quit smoking, the more you can reduce your chances of getting cancer and other diseases.
Become empowered to quit right now!
If you choose to empower yourself to quit smoking with this program, you’ll also be able to share information to help motivate others to stay away from tobacco or quit smoking for good! Our researchers will take what they learn from supporting you and use that information to make our Empowered to Quit program even more helpful.
