At JET (formerly Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training), we help thousands of people get ahead every year and we welcome the opportunity to work with you!  We work with everyone from people just starting out in the labor force to seasoned professionals who may be facing change in their chosen field and need a new start.

We provide a wide range of FREE individualized services including personal one-to-one career counseling, access to computers for your job search, occupational and job search skills training, and helping you find new or different job opportunities. Counselors are very familiar with the wide array of issues faced during unemployment such as the emotional aspect of losing a job and family matters.

Classroom Training Fund Scholarships

We fund scholarships each year for youth and adults to attend occupational training programs up to two years for in-demand occupations at a variety of educational institutions.

Dislocated Workers

If you’ve lost a job because of company downsizing, buyouts, or layoffs, your top priority is finding a new job.

If you are interested in pursuing a different occupation or are unsure what the next step in your career path might be, trained counselors can work with you to develop a plan.

If you need help paying for training and have been on unemployment anytime in the past year, please contact us to see if you qualify for our services!

Adults

If you fall within income guidelines or are receiving public assistance, JET can help you determine how to increase and market your skills to earn a higher wage.

On The Job Training

JET staff are caring, experienced professionals, committed to helping individuals reach employment goals.  In many cases, our Career Counselors have also experienced unemployment at some point in their lives.  They understand the problems of caring for oneself and family members while being out of work.

JET also networks with major economic development agencies, including Iron Range Resources, private foundations, and the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund.  Because of this network, new job openings are sometimes known earlier than usual, giving our clients a jump on finding that new job opportunity.

*To qualify for tuition assistance for training or support services, you must be eligible:

Have you recently been laid off? You may qualify as a Dislocated Worker

Are you between the ages of 14 and 24?

Are you an adult on public assistance (MFIP, Food Stamps, Medical, etc.)?
