Northland has been providing mental health and chemical dependency services for our communities since 1959.

In 2020, Northland became recognized as a Federally Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and in 2023, became State Certified.  This Certification demonstrates Northland’s dedication to being a person-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic provider of care – to persons of all ages and cultures – experiencing wide ranges of backgrounds and experiences. 

We currently have offices located in the counties of Aitkin, Itasca, Koochiching and St. Louis Counties.

When you receive services from NCC, you can expect a full array of services tailored for you by your treatment team – all bound together by care coordinators – to assist you in navigating your course towards your best self!

Specialized training includes:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for adults, adolescents and children,
  • Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT),
  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy,
  • Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorders,
  • Play Interventions,
  • Sand tray interventions,
  • Equine-Assisted Interventions,
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT),
  • DC: 0-5 Assessments (Diagnostic Assessments for ages 0-5) and
  • Clinical Hypnosis.

Your Initial Appointment with a Therapist:

During your initial appointment with a therapist, you will meet with a clinician, either in-person via telehealth, for approximately 1-2 hours to assess for current mental health symptoms, referral needs and determine treatment options available to you and/or your family member.

Your Initial Appointment with a Medication Manager:

During your initial appointment with a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Psychiatrist you will meet with them, either in-person or telehealth, for approximately 1-2 hours to assess for current mental health symptoms, referral needs and determine treatment options available to you and/or your family member.
