Application Process
The application process takes approximately 3 months to complete from when you first inquire about a day care license. The process begins by contacting the county licensor at 218-387-3620. You will then receive a packet of information. You should then contact the licensor at 218-387-3620 to schedule an orientation meeting. At the orientation you are informed about the licensing process and the requirements of day care.
Requirements
You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for a day care license. Reference letters, health reports, and background studies are done on the applicant. Background studies are also conducted on any family members 13 years or older residing in the day care home.
Fees
Initial Child Care License is valid for one year; License Fee is $150 Child Care License renewal is valid for two years; License Fee is $200
Becoming an Adult Family Foster Care Provider
Becoming an adult family foster care provider is a big decision. It is a commitment to allow an adult with special needs to live in your home and become part of your daily life. Adults in foster care often work and are very active in the community.
As an adult foster care provider you assist these adult to live their life to the fullest. In addition to providing room and board in a safe, nurturing environment, you may also be called upon to provide assistance with transportation, filling out medical benefit forms, supervising medication and other special needs care.
