Smith Lodge

Smith Lodge is a place where individuals struggling with homelessness and substance use disorder find the time and support needed to break the destructive cycles in their lives. By offering a sober environment, access to resources, information, counseling and advocacy, the program makes it possible for residents to transition from a life of long-term homelessness and addiction to a life of stability and independence. The goal for every Smith Lodge resident is to ensure that when they leave Smith Lodge, they leave with the resources, tools, and support necessary to maintain their sobriety and independence.

The program has space for 20 residents, and the average length of stay is eight months, but stays can range from a few weeks to a few years. Smith Lodge is funded through state Housing Support per-diems (formerly Group Residential Housing), and there are some eligibility requirements for admission, including evidence of chronic chemical dependency such as multiple treatment or detoxification admissions. Prospective residents will need to get a Professional Statement of Need completed by a qualified professional such as a treatment director, an alcohol and drug counselor supervisor, a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC), or licensed physician.
