To help foster dialogue between children and the safe adults in their lives, as well as provide children a tool for helping express and explore their feelings in a fun, creative and empowering way, NAMI offers “Meet Little Monster,” a mental health coloring and activity book, available for download at no-cost in both English and Spanish. Created by NAMI Washington, “Meet Little Monster” was developed in response to both the COVID-19 pandemic, when children were suddenly cut off from their friends, teachers, coaches, club leaders and school counselors, and the Black Lives Matter protests for racial justice after the murder of George Floyd. The book also includes a list of mental health resources.

DBSA Online Peer Support Groups

DBSA offers a wide variety of peer support groups that people can join from anywhere in the country. In addition to groups for people living with bipolar disorder or depression, we also have specialized support groups for friends and family, for seniors aged 60+ (in English and Spanish), for military Veterans, and for young adults. Coming soon: focused support groups for members of the Black community and for individuals facing co-occurring substance use and mood disorders.

DBSA Wellness Tracker

DBSA’s Wellness Tracker helps people with depression or bipolar disorder to record how they are feeling each day. Discovering how moods can be influenced by medications, substance use, diet, exercise, and other factors can help users work toward personal wellness. The main Mood Tracker, along with focused trackers that cover symptoms, behaviors, and lifestyle, can be used together or separately to support each person’s wellness journey. All materials are free and can be downloaded from the DBSA website.

War in Ukraine: How Business Leaders Can Support Employees Affected by the Crisis

The war in Ukraine has many people on edge. Some of your employees are likely feeling saddened, shocked, and powerless to help. Images of war may be triggering personal trauma. These circumstances create the potential for high rates of stress, impacting how your employees show up at work. People with family and friends in Ukraine and Russia may feel an even greater degree of grief and despair. Other workforce groups – including veterans, immigrants and refugees – may experience post-traumatic distress. Some workers may be angry that this war is being treated differently than earlier global conflicts that affected them personally. The source and severity of reactions will differ, but as an employer, this provides the opportunity to show care and concern for workers.
