Carlton County Bike Fleet Summer Loaner Program

Carlton County Public Health and Human Services, in partnership with the school districts in Carlton County wrote for and received a grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation for a bicycle fleet for education within the schools. This effort was spurred on by SHIP/Healthy Northland activities within the County. Education has taken place at seven schools within the county, and the fleet is now available for community use during the summer.

Rates

The fleet has a flat rate of $100 per week, which covers transportation and maintenance. Organizations may rent the fleet for up to two weeks. The fee may be waived if the renters are able to provide the required maintenance. Day/Event rental is available for $50 per use. The fleet is available for use from June 11-August 24, 2018 to organizations/agencies in Carlton County. The bicycles (40) fit youth ages 9-13, and the fleet also includes four adult-size bikes. Forty helmets are included, as well as other supplies (bicycle pump, cones, stop signs, etc.). Priority is also given to organizations/agencies providing specific bicycle education (bike rodeos, classroom instruction, etc.), however the fleet is also available for general group rides.

A rental agreement must be signed and waivers must be filled out by users of the fleet as Carlton County is not liable for any injuries.
