JET: Youth Services
The Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training (JET) has services available for young people ages 12-24 who meet one or more of these criteria:
- Needs help to enter or complete an educational program AND low-income
- Potential dropout or no high school diploma or equivalency
- Deficient in basic literacy skills
- Involved with justice system
- Homeless, a foster child, or aged-out of foster care
- Pregnant or parenting
- Receiving public assistance (example: food support)
- Chemically dependent or child of someone chemically dependent
- Has a disability or currently on an IEP/504 plan, or had a plan within past year
Professional Youth Career Counselors are available to assist with:
- Scholarships for technical training programs up to 2 years
- Placement in paid work experiences or internships
- Help obtaining a high school diploma or GED
- Transplantation planning including:
- job readiness and employment (resumes, interviewing, applications)
- post-secondary education options
- career exploration (assessments, job shadowing)
- Supports and incentives that includes services like rental assistance, gas, cards, cash rewards for reaching employment or training goals and more!
