Provided Services
- Individual identification of difficulties such as teen parenting,
homelessness, runaway situations, juvenile court participation, chemical
dependency issues, family life situations resulting in group home
placement or social services intervention, disabilities, economic hardship,
English language deficiencies which limit participation in employment or
education. - Skills/interest/ability assessment and development of personalized plans
for continued education and job preparation. - Encouragement for students to complete high school, explore the "world of
work," and post-secondary training opportunities, engage in career
awareness activities. - Eligible youth are placed into appropriate work situations to help them gain
valuable experience and understand the linkage between education and
work. - Tutoring, study skills training, and instruction leading to completion of
secondary school, including dropout prevention strategies - Alternative secondary school services, as appropriate.
- Summer employment opportunities that are directly linked to academic and
occupational skill learning. - Occupational skills training, as appropriate.
- Leadership development opportunities, which may include community
service and peer-centered activities encouraging responsibility and other
positive social behaviors during non-school hours, as appropriate. - Supportive services.
- Adult mentoring for the period of participation and a subsequent period, for
a total of not less than 12 months. - Follow-up services for not less than 12 months after the completion of
services, as appropriate. - Comprehensive guidance and counseling, which may include drug and
alcohol abuse counseling and referral, as appropriate
