About Sabathani Community Center
Sabathani Community Center is one of Minnesota’s oldest African American-founded nonprofits. We annually help more than 50,000 South Minneapolis residents tackle barriers in their lives and move from surviving to thriving. As a multi-service organization, we deliver a comprehensive range of community-oriented, culturally tailored services and programming in an environment of dignity and respect.

Food DistributionSince 1975, our Food Distribution Center has served as an emergency food security resource for the community. |
Clothing ClosetOur Clothing Closet gives community members access to free clothing and shoes. Shops, donate, or both. |
Senior ActivitiesWe offer a variety of social , recreational, and educational opportunities for seniors of our community to stay connected and thrive. |
Youth ActivitiesOur youth activities empower youth to shape their future providing positive activities for enrichment and pathways to fulfilling career |
Workforce StrategiesWorkforce Strategies prepares participants for employment in livable-wage jobs, including job trainings and recruitment fairs. |
Health & WellnessOur mission is simple but profound: to bridge the gap in diabetes care and prevention that has disproportionately affected our African American community. |
Sabathani Senior HousingOur 48-unit senior apartment building offers comfortable studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units for individuals aged 55 and older. |
Community Energy ProjectOur Community Energy Project helps make South Minneapolis more clean and green by renovating our building to be more energy-efficient. |
